Police Uncover Suspected Cannabis Factory

A suspected cannabis factory has been uncovered by police carrying out a routine enquiry at a house in Antrim.

81 plants that appear to have been recently planted were found in a room covered in silver insulation. Two men were arrested in connection with the discovery, after leaving the door open while officers visited the property.

The plants are believed to have an estimated street value of £40,000.

Writing on the PSNI's Newtownabbey Facebook page, a spokesperson said the find was down to sheer luck. They added: "Note to resident, close the door of the room you've converted into a cannabis factory along with the 81 plants you're nurturing along. The police might just be interested in such a room.

"Whilst we hear mention of the words medicinal and legalise when we post messages like this, those are issues out of our hands. We deal with criminal offences and the debate about the use of such plants is one to take up with your elected reps."
