Drugs & Weapon Seized During Co Antrim Vehicle Stop

A proactive police patrol in County Antrim has uncovered a haul of illegal items, including an offensive weapon and herbal cannabis worth £20,000.

A man fled the scene but was later arrested following the incident in Ahoghill on Friday evening, 27 September. He has since been released on bail pending further forensic enquiries.

District Support Team officers stopped the suspicious vehicle at around 9.40pm, a PSNI spokesperson explained.

"The driver was uncooperative and tried to flee on foot carrying a rucksack.

"Officers managed to wrestle the rucksack from him prior to the male making his escape.

"A search of the vehicle and rucksack found herbal cannabis worth £20,000 and approximately £16,000 in cash. Other items were also located and seized including drug paraphernalia and an offensive weapon.

"A male was arrested the following day and has been bailed pending further forensic enquiries."
