Man Slashed Across Face In Newry

A man has been slashed across the face during a serious assault in Newry.

Police are investigating the incident that took place at around 2am on Saturday morning, 19 October.

The 34-year-old victim was walking along Canal Street when a vehicle approached him at the Merchants Quay junction and two men emerged. One of the assailants slashed the man across the face, causing him to fall to the ground, before both kicked him until he lost consciousness.

The victim sustained a seven inch gash to his face, a smaller slash wound to his upper arm and various other cuts and bruises during the violent onslaught.

The suspects were travelling in a silver five door Volkswagen Golf.

Police are appealing for witnesses who were in the area, which they believe would have been busy at the time, to contact them on 101 quoting reference 573 of 19/10/19.

Police Investigating Man's Death Following Ballynahinch Collision
The PSNI have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of an elderly man following a collision in Ballynahinch. It it understood that police were called at approximately 4.10pm on Monday 08 April, to reports of the "sudden death"of an elderly man at a quarry in the Newcastle Road area of Seaforde.

Appeal For Information On 'Nasty' Robbery In Omagh
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a "nasty" robbery in Omagh. Police received a report, that at around 1.30am on Monday, 19th February a man aged in his in his 40s was cycling in the Cranny Road area of the town, alongside the river, when he was set upon by a group of six people, dressed in dark clothing with hoods up.
