One Charged Over Ballynahinch Attempted ATM Theft

A man is due in court over the attempted theft of an ATM machine in Ballynahinch, Co Down.

The 26 year-old is charged with burglary (non-dwelling), criminal damage endangering life with intent, aggravated vehicle taking causing damage to property and theft.

He will appear before Newtownards Magistrates' Court this morning, Wednesday 20 November.

Would-be thieves used a bulldozer to attempt to remove the cash dispenser from Carlisle's petrol station on the Belfast Road early on Monday morning, 18 November. Significant damage was caused to the business.

The suspect was arrested in Saintfield on Tuesday along with two others.

A 25 year-old remains in custody assisting police with enquiries, while another individual, aged 24, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

All charges will be reviewed by the PPS, as is normal procedure.

Four Charged In Connection With Blake Newland Murder
Four people are due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates' Court charged in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Blake Newland. The Limavady teenager died after being found with serious stab wounds at a house in the town on Friday, 02 February. Detectives investigating the murder, have now charged two men, aged 27 and 29, with murder.
