Belfast Craftworld To Close After 30 Years
Belfast Craftworld is to close its doors after more than 30 years in business.
The company made the decision with sadness after experiencing a downturn in retail sales. Announcing the news on Tuesday 07 January, a spokesperson for the firm cited online competition, Belfast bus lanes and the Primark fire as among the reasons for its closure.
The announcement reads: "It is with deep regret and sadness that Craftworld will be closing it's doors, after over 30 years in business. This has been a very hard decision to make but due to the downturn in retail sales, online giants, the Primark fire, bus lanes and limited parking we can no longer stay in business. We would like to thank all our regular customers for their support over the years and will miss you all."
The company employs 10 people.
Appeal For Witnesses To Co Fermanagh Burglary
Police are appealing for witnesses to a burglary in the Co Fermanagh town of Ballinamallard.
A number of items of alcohol were taken from a garage attached to an address on the Baragh Road at sometime between 7pm and 11.30pm on Thursday 02 January.
Anyone who saw anything suspicions in the area is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1584 of 03/01/2020.
Search Begins For NI Water Chair
The search has begun to find a new Chair for Northern Ireland Water.
The Department for Infrastructure is on the look out for an individual who will serve four business days per month and be expected to attend all Board meetings and other ad hoc meetings as required.
The Chair will receive remuneration of £40,000 and reasonable travel and subsistence costs.
Applications will be welcomed from all sections of the community. Women, younger people, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minority communities are currently under-represented on DfI Boards. Applications from members of these groups would be particularly welcome.
The appointment will be effective from 01 April 2020 and will run for a period of up to four years.

A diverse delegation from Belfast is travelling to Nashville, USA, to mark the 30th anniversary of the Sister City relationship between the two cities. The visit coincides with the Peace Summit, a peace and civil rights conference organised by Queen's University Belfast, Belmont University, and Fisk University in Nashville.

Over £1m Secured For Early Years Fund
Over £1 million in funding has been secured for the Early Years Fund. The Fund, which supports 153 early years organisations across Northern Ireland, will use the funding to ensure current services continue until March 2016. Education Minister John O'Dowd confirmed £1.1m in funding.
