Call For Police Support Over Comber Murder Bid

An Alliance MLA has issued a call for support for the police following a shooting in Comber.

The gun attack on Sunday night, 15 March, is being treated as attempted murder.

A man in his 50s had driven into a yard in the Ballycreely Road area of the town when a masked man armed with a suspected handgun emerged from a hedge.

The armed man fired several shots causing injuries to the victim's shoulder and right thigh.

The man required hospital treatment for injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Alliance MLA for Strangford Kellie Armstrong condemned the murder bid, saying: "I condemn without reservation whoever was behind this shooting in Comber. The police are treating this attack as attempted murder and it is vital those responsible are taken off the streets as soon as possible. I would urge anyone with information about this attack to pass it to the police or anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
