'No Place For Guns On Our Streets' – Alliance
There is "no place for guns on our streets", Alliance party North Down representatives have said following a shooting incident in Bangor.
A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital after being shot in Balligan Gardens in the town around 9pm on Monday 05 July. He suffered injuries to his lower right leg.
Mr Farry said: "There is no place in our society for these paramilitary-style attacks.
"They are a serious crime which breach human rights and the rule of law, and don't represent Justice but rather the coercive control of communities."
"There is no place on our streets for guns," said North Down MLA Andrew Muir.
"The people of North Down do not want to see this taking place – the people behind it represent no-one and need taken off our streets immediately so they cannot threaten anyone else.
"My thoughts are with the victim of this shooting. It was a barbaric act and has no place in our community," added Councillor Connie Egan.
"I urge anyone with information on the perpetrators or this attack to contact the police with it immediately."
