Man Assaulted In North Belfast

A man has sustained injuries to his head and body after being attacked in north Belfast.

The 44-year-old victim was assaulted after a gang of thugs, one armed with a hatchet, entered a property in the Canning Place area at around 12.45am on Sunday.

The victim was left with a number of injuries, however they are not believed to be life threatening.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Bus Stop Injury Victim Named
John Hickey, 72, has been named as the man who died last Saturday following an incident at a Belfast City Centre bus stop. Mr Hickey died as a result of head injuries sustained near Central Library on Royal Avenue at 4:35pm. A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was later released.

Belfast Man Handed Two-Year Stalking Protection Order
The PSNI have welcomed a two-year Stalking Protection Order (SPO) handed down to a 46-year-old Belfast man at Belfast Magistrates Court. The man had been found guilty of stalking and harassing his 50-year-old female ex-partner.

A man in his 20s has been assaulted by a gang of masked men during an aggravated burglary in west Belfast. The victim suffered a suspected broken jaw and other injuries to his face and body when assaulted at a house in the West Circular Road area of Belfast on Wednesday night, 13 November.
