Glentoran Grab Late Equaliser In European Tie

Glentoran have kicked off their European adventure with a draw against Welsh side The New Saints.

The pair played their opening Europa Conference League qualifier to a limited crowd at The Oval, where a late goal from substitute Jamie McDonagh was enough for the Glens to share the spoils.

Saints took the lead early on in the first half with a fantastic solo goal from Leo Smith.

The Glens then enjoyed spells of pressure before McDaid teed up McDonagh to fire home for the equaliser in the 82nd minute.

This result sees the tie well poised for the second leg in Wales next Thursday, 15 July.

Gibraltar's Europa or Latvia's Kauno Žalgiris will face the winners in the next round.
