Man Threatened At Knifepoint In Belfast Robbery

A man has been arrested in relation to a robbery in Belfast, where someone was held at knifepoint.

The incident on Thursday 29 July was reported to police shortly after 10.15am, when a male was threatened at knifepoint by an unknown man in the Antrim Road area.

The man, who was described as wearing a dark grey hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms, stole a dark coloured rucksack from the man and made off towards the Atlantic Avenue area following the incident.

The 40-year-old was later arrested at the Atlantic Avenue area on suspicion of robbery and other related offences and was subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Majury added: "Our enquiries are continuing and we would ask the owner of the rucksack to contact police. We would also appeal to anyone with any information or dash-cam footage taken from the area at the time of the incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 479 29/07/21. Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.

The PSNI has launched an appeal for information following the stabbing of a man in the Ormeau Bridge area of Belfast in the early hours of Saturday 12 July. Detectives in the south of the city are investigating the incident, which was reported to police at about 03:10.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
