New Measures To Alleviate Pressure On Schools
New measures to help to schools deal with increasing pressure of Covid-19 are expected to be announced following discussions between the Department for Education and Department of Health.
Education Minister Michelle McIlveen said: "Detailed discussions are ongoing between my Department and the Department of Health on measures to alleviate current pressures facing our schools as a result of COVID-19.
"Proposals are being finalised and will be discussed with relevant stakeholders this week.
"I recognise that the start of the new school year has been stressful for parents, children and school staff.
"The public health grounds for keeping and supporting children at school are very strong in terms of supporting their education and emotional well-being.
"The risk of COVID-19 infection in any setting cannot be entirely eradicated but it can be reduced. Schools have a range of mitigations in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission in school. These include additional cleaning and hand hygiene, ventilation, the use of face coverings and regular asymptomatic testing."

All NI Schools Are Eco-Schools - Durkan
All schools in Northern Ireland are now Eco-Schools, the Environment Minister has confirmed. Minister Mark H Durkan was speaking at the Eco-Schools National Operators Meeting (NOM), an annual global conference, coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

Asbestos Threat In NI Schools
Up to 93 schools in Northern Ireland have not yet removed cancer-causing asbestos from their buildings, it has emerged. Currently, there are 65 primary schools, including nurseries, and 28 secondary level schools, including special schools, which have still to eliminate the insulating material completely from their buildings.

MLA Calls For More Action On Bullying Prevention in Schools
