New Nine-Screen Cinema Announced For Former Debenhams Store

The Omniplex Cinema Group is set to create a new nine-screen cinema in the former Debenhams store in CastleCourt.

Omniplex is one of two new "anchor tenants" that are set to take over the 80,000sq ft space, that became vacant when Debenhams went into administration earlier this year.

Stating that they are going to "do something very special", Omniplex director Paul John Anderson said: "Expect to see new and never-before-seen levels of luxury, quality and service for an afternoon or night out at the cinema.

"We are incredibly excited by the project which will breathe new life into Belfast's city centre and we aim to have it fully operational before Christmas 2022."

Some 80 jobs are expected to be created during the fit-out and construction of the new cinema. Once operational the Omniplex will employ 40 people full and part time.
