Paris Search Operation In Connection With Lyra McKee Investigation

A search operation has been carried out in Paris, France, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the murder of journalist Lyra McKee.

Ms McKee was shot dead as she observed rioting in the Creggan area of the city in April 2019.

It is understood that the PSNI believe that a camera crew from a French production company was in L'Derry throughout the week when Ms McKee was murdered.

Belfast Crown Court granted the PSNI a European Investigation Order to request the search of the production company's office in Paris.

The request was approved and supported by senior members of the French judiciary and the search operation was carried out today, led by two French judges and French police.

It is understood that a number of items were recovered from the office and taken for further examination.
