PSNI host major world policing conference in Belfast

The PSNI today welcomed more than 230 delegates and guests from across the world to the 21st International Association of Chiefs of Police European Executive Policing Conference.

The three-day conference in Belfast, which is one of the most prestigious meetings in international policing, features many respected speakers who will address key issues around the conference theme –'The Challenge of Progressive Policing'.

The opening address will be made by PSNI Chief Constable, Hugh Orde while two of his assistants Peter Sheridan and Sam Kinkaid will address delegates on public order policing and human rights and ethics in policing.

Senior law enforcement practitioners will also debate current policing issues on an international level influencing and shaping policing policy and best practice in modern and progressive policing.

Jens Henrik Höjbjerg, Deputy Director of Europol will then address delegates on the issue of developing more efficient sharing of intelligence in response to and in the prevention of terrorist acts.

Today's conference will include delegates from the USA, Canada, South America, Russia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
