Victims Of Light Aircraft Crash Named

The victims of a light aircraft crash in Newtownards have been named as Philip Murdock and Caroline Mawhinney.

The were both members of the Ulster Flying Club and died in the crash just after 8.20pm on Tuesday.

Mr Murdock was the Managing Director of security firm Envision Intelligent Solutions in Craigavon.

Johnson Controls, which bought Envision earlier this year, paid tribute to Mr Murdock as a "passionate and charismatic" member of the team.

"We are greatly saddened to hear the news that Philip Murdock was involved in a fatal light aircraft incident on Tuesday 19th July," they said in a statement.

"Phil was the founder and managing director of Envision Intelligent Solutions Limited and was a passionate and charismatic member of the team.

"We understand that this news will affect all who have known and worked alongside him over the years, and we’d like to extend our deepest condolences to Phil's family, friends and colleagues.

"The team at Envision are a close-knit team and we are supporting them and Philip's family through this difficult time as best we can."

“Our thoughts are with his wife, his parents, his wider family and of course, his Envision team.”

Man Arrested After Andersonstown Road Crash
The PSNI have arrested a man in his 40s after a single vehicle crash in west Belfast. The collision happened on the Andersonstown Road at around 9.40pm on Thursday evening, 18 January. Police said the man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and was subsequently released on bail.

Daniel Sebastian Allen Jailed For 29 Years For Murder Of Family Of Four
Daniel Sebastian Allen has been sentenced to life in prison for the deaths of three people in a deliberate house fire in Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, in 2018. The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to starting a fire at a house, which lead to the death of four people, including a baby girl.
