Infrastructure Minister Meets With IMTAC
Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd has met with representatives from the Inclusive Mobility and Transport Advisory Committee (IMTAC) to discuss the vital role they play in advocating for older people, for those who are deaf or have a disability and to acknowledge the support they provide to the Department.
At the meeting Bert Bailie, Chairman of IMTAC also formally presented their 2021/22 Annual Report to Minister O'Dowd.
Minister O'Dowd said: "My Department and IMTAC have a strong working relationship and have engaged on a range of transport issues over many years. The work the Committee undertakes and the advice they provide to the Department is invaluable so I welcomed the opportunity to meet with them today to hear more about the progress made over the past year and to discuss their priorities moving forward.
"While much progress has been made in terms of accessibility and inclusion for deaf people, people with a disability and older people, I know that more needs to be done. I am committed to working with IMTAC and my colleagues across government to ensure that we can deliver the successful outcomes required by everyone in our society."

Politicians Help 'Kick Hate Into Touch'
An innovative campaign, the 'Unite Against Hate' sporting weekend has been launched. Stormont First Minister Peter Robinson and his Junior Minister Gerry Kelly (pictured) joined forces to support the campaign which highlights all forms of hate crime and challenges people here to unite to stop it.

New Abuse And Violence Strategy Consultations Extended
The development period of two new Executive strategies aimed at tackling violence against women and girls and domestic and sexual abuse have been extended until 21 March. Justice Minister Naomi Long and Health Minister Robin Swann made the announcement as part of the Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week.

Computer buffs have been handed a new way to train and work towards employment. Employment and Learning Minister, Dr. Stephen Farry and Finance and Personnel Minister, Sammy Wilson, today launched an ICT Apprenticeship Scheme to recruit individuals into this growing and exciting sector.

A young woman from Northern Ireland had the unique opportunity to address the UK Cabinet - including the Prime Minister - this morning. Danielle Burns, 24, from Belfast, was allowed to pitch her employment ideas to ministers after winning a competition via social networking website Bebo.

A high-powered delegation of US Congressmen has been welcomed to the Stormont Assembly. Greeted by the newly appointed Junior Minister Robin Newton, (pictured) and the Executive's Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, they had a working lunch at Parliament Buildings yesterday.
