'Fireball' Seen Above NI A Meteorite

A 'fireball' seen shooting across the sky in Northern Ireland and Scotland has been declared a meteorite.

Some 200 reports of a 'fireball' in the sky were made earlier this week after the object was seen travelling across the night sky in both NI and Scotland.

Following analysis of scientific data and photos and videos captured by members of the public, the UK Meteor Network has said that the 'fireball' was a meteorite and not a pice of 'space junk' and that "any material would have fallen into the sea".
