Teenager Charged In Connection With East Belfast Axe Attack

A 19-year-old man is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court charged in connection with a violent axe attack in east Belfast.

A man, aged in his 50s, was struck in the face with an axe at around 10.15pm on Sunday 16 October on the Cregagh Road. The man continues to be treated in hospital for what has been described as "life-altering injuries".

The teenager has been charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Another man, aged 22, arrested in connection with the attack has been released on police bail.
