NIFRS Launches 2023 Cadet Scheme Recruitment Campaign

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has launched a new Cadet recruitment campaign.

The service is seeking cadets on Belfast, Bangor, Lisburn and Newry, to begin in September 2023.

The NIFRS said: "Are you starting School Year 11 in September 2023? Would you like to develop life skills whilst building friendships and having fun? Why not join Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Cadets?

"The Cadets Scheme is open to everyone and we particularly welcome applications from females.

"In order to reflect the community we serve, for this intake we encourage applicants from ethnic minorities, those in receipt of free school meals and persons with a disability."

Applications close on Friday 21 April 2023 at noon.

School Workers To Consider Further Strike Action
School workers in Northern Ireland are to consider further industrial action, in an ongoing dispute over pay. The GMB Union, which represents more than 3,000 classroom assistants, kitchen staff, bus drivers, cleaners, admin workers and others, met with Education Minister Paul Givan at Stormont on Tuesday, 20 February.

Build projects for seven new schools across NI are to progress in planning, Education Minister Paul Givan has announced. The Minister has written to Principals following his decision to lift the pause on a number of schools in the worst condition, announced for capital funding in 2022.
