New Online Training Platform To Support Manufacturing Skills

The Open University in Ireland has partnered with Manufacturing NI for a new accessible free online learning platform that aims to support the development of key skills within the manufacturing industry in Northern Ireland.

Hosted on OpenLearn, The Open University's free learning platform, the Manufacturing NI Learning Hub provides a comprehensive collection of high-quality courses and resources focused on managing people and teams, operations management, green economy, software and IT and accountancy and finance.

Designed to address the evolving needs of the manufacturing industry and the broader workforce, the platform is accessible to anyone with an internet connection, offering a flexible and inclusive learning experience that puts knowledge at the fingertips of all.

The Open University's expertise in delivering world-class distance learning, combined with Manufacturing NI's in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing sector's intricacies, makes this partnership a formidable force in shaping the future of education and skills development in Northern Ireland. As the manufacturing industry continues to grow and transform, so does the demand for a skilled and adaptable workforce. The Manufacturing NI Learning Hub is poised to bridge the gap between the needs of the industry and the aspirations those working, or seeking to work in the sector, facilitating career growth and creating a more competitive and resilient economy.

The key features of the Manufacturing NI Learning Hub include:

1. Diverse Course Offerings: The platform will offer an extensive selection of courses, spanning various subjects, from technical skills to leadership and management.

2. Flexibility and Accessibility: Learners can access the platform from anywhere, at any time, enabling them to fit education into their busy lives without compromising their existing commitments.

3. Interactive and Engaging Learning Environment: The Free Online Learning Hub will utilise interactive learning tools, simulations, and multimedia content to make the learning process engaging and enjoyable.

Launching the Manufacturing NI Learning Hub represents a shared commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within Northern Ireland's manufacturing community. It serves as a testament to both The Open University and Manufacturing NI's dedication to driving positive change and empowering the region's workforce.

John D'Arcy, Director at The Open University in Ireland, said: "We are incredibly proud to collaborate with Manufacturing NI on this important initiative. Together, we are breaking down barriers to education and equipping learners with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the dynamic manufacturing landscape."

Mary Meehan, Deputy CEO at Manufacturing NI, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: "The Manufacturing NI Learning Hub represents a significant step in our commitment to support the growth and resilience of the manufacturing sector.
