Appeal For Information On 'Nasty' Robbery In Omagh

PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a "nasty" robbery in Omagh.

Police received a report, that at around 1.30am on Monday, 19th February a man aged in his in his 40s was cycling in the Cranny Road area of the town, alongside the river, when he was set upon by a group of six people, dressed in dark clothing with hoods up.

One of the people in the group punched the man in the face and he was then set upon by the group. He was further punched and kicked before his wallet, containing a substantial sum of cash, was taken from his pocket. The group then made off in the direction of the public toilets.

Detective Constable McKenna said: "The victim attended hospital where he received staples to wounds to both his arm and leg. Although he did not see a weapon, he believes these wounds may have been made with a blade.

"This was a nasty assault which had the potential to result in more serious injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with relevant information, including dashcam, CCTV or other video footage, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting 97 of 19/02/24."

Appeal For Information On Serious Assault In Rostrevor
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Rostrevor on Sunday, 31 March. At around 9pm, police received a report that man, aged in his 20s, had received serious head injuries after he fell to the ground following an altercation at a licensed premises in the Bridge Street area.

BCC Welcomes Conviction Of Belfast Man For Dog Attack
Belfast City Council (BCC) has welcomed the conviction of a man at Belfast Magistrates Court for an offence involving a dog attack on a woman. BCC brought the prosecution against 43-year-old Stuart Grace, of Forthriver Crescent, Belfast, following a report that Mr Grace’s German Shepherd dog had attacked a woman, injuring her arm and back.
