Appeal Following East Belfast Robbery

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following a robbery at commercial premises in east Belfast this morning, 2 April.

Police received a report that a man armed with a gun entered the business on Orangefield Lane shortly after 7am and demanded cash from staff.

Detective Sergeant Alexander: "Officers attended the scene and spoke with staff who reported that the man, described as approximately 6ft tall and aged 25-30 years old, had pointed the gun at them before making off with cash, cigarettes and vapes.

"Thankfully, although shaken by the frightening ordeal, the staff were not otherwise injured. Our investigation is ongoing.

"It is believed that the suspect left on foot in the direction of North Road. We would ask anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have dashcam, CCTV or other footage, to call detectives on 101, quoting reference number 298 of 02/04/24."

BCC Welcomes Conviction Of Belfast Man For Dog Attack
Belfast City Council (BCC) has welcomed the conviction of a man at Belfast Magistrates Court for an offence involving a dog attack on a woman. BCC brought the prosecution against 43-year-old Stuart Grace, of Forthriver Crescent, Belfast, following a report that Mr Grace’s German Shepherd dog had attacked a woman, injuring her arm and back.

Man To Serve 20 Years In Jail For 2020 Murder Of Inayat Shah
A man has been sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in jail for the murder of Inayat Shah on 21 March, 2020. Mr Shah (67), who was the owner of a guesthouse in Ballymena, was stabbed multiple times in a "horrific and savage" attack near his property on 21 March 2020.
