Bangor receives call centre jobs infusion

One hundred new jobs are to be created at a call centre in Co Down, it was announced today.

The MM Group is to create the full and part-time jobs at its Bangor centre after securing a £12.5 million call handling contract with the National Blood Service.

The five-year contract will enable the group to continue on with its National Blood Service work having chalked up more than 4 million inbound calls for the past five years. The company will also begin making outbound donor reminder calls as a result of the new contract.

Audrey Stower of the MM Group said he was "delighted" with the contract. "In purely commercial terms, the National Blood Service is an important tranche of business and there was tough competition from other sector leaders to secure this account," he added.

Today's announcement is latest expansion for the MM Group's Bangor base after it announced a recruitment drive for up to 50 new posts in May

This latest drive will bring total employee numbers to well over 700.
