SERC To Host 'Have A Go' Sessions For Would-Be Apprentices
South Eastern Regional College (SERC) is inviting prospective apprentices to attend its 'Have a Go' Sessions during Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week (3-7 February 2025).
These events, taking place on Tuesday, 4 February (Bangor and Newtownards Campuses) and Thursday, 6 February (Downpatrick and Lisburn Campuses), will provide an opportunity for individuals to learn more about a wide range of apprenticeship opportunities available at SERC.
Led by the Department for the Economy (DfE), Apprenticeship Week showcases the benefits of apprenticeships and encourages individuals to explore this valuable career pathway. "Our 'Have a Go' Sessions will include visits to workshops where attendees can explore the facilities and gather information on a variety of Level 2, Level 3, and Higher-Level Apprenticeships," said Victoria Boyd, Head of Training Programmes & Apprenticeships at SERC. "These sessions will cover sectors including accountancy, air conditioning, fire and security, wall and floor tiling, professional cookery, land-based engineering, health and social care, motor vehicle, construction, engineering, electrical, hairdressing, cloud computing technologies, and leadership for children's care."
Victoria added: "SERC currently has 1,440 Level 2 and Level 3 apprentices and 275 Higher Level apprentices actively engaged in their studies. Apprenticeships offer a unique learning experience, combining on-the-job training with structured learning. Apprentices earn while they learn, eliminating the burden of student debt. They gain valuable hands-on experience and develop essential skills within their chosen field."
SERC encourages interested individuals to check the events listings on their website in advance of their visit, as specific apprenticeship programs may be offered at different campuses.
