Justice Minister Condemns Weekend Attacks On Police Officers
Justice Minister, Naomi Long has condemned the attacks on police officers at the weekend In Londonderry and Strabane.
Minister Long said: "I unreservedly condemn these disgraceful attacks on police officers in Strabane and Derry this weekend.
"The Police are here to serve us all and keep us safe. It is appalling that they would be attacked during the course of their duties.
"There is no place in our society for such actions and those responsible will be pursued and brought to justice.
"I commend the PSNI and thank them for continuing to serve in such challenging circumstances. I send my thoughts and best wishes to the officers who were injured and I hope they make a speedy recovery."
Man Charged Following Serious Sexual Assault In South Belfast
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Public Protection Branch have charged a 43-year-old man following a serious sexual assault in south Belfast.
The man has been charged with rape, possession of an offensive weapon with intent, threats to kill, and possession of a Class B controlled drug.
He is scheduled to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court today, Monday 10th February.
As a matter of standard procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
Maskey Condemns 'Disgusting And Deplorable' Racist Graffiti
Racist graffiti in west Belfast has been described as "disgusting and deplorable" by Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey.
The West Belfast MP said: "The racist graffiti which has appeared in some of our communities over the last week is disgusting and deplorable.
"Racism, wherever it raises its ugly head, must be opposed, challenged and stamped out."
Paul Maskey also spoke of the majority of people in west Belfast who reject these warped actions: "West Belfast is a proudly welcoming, inclusive and diverse community.
"The majority of the people I speak to each and every day stand against racism, hatred, intimidation and discrimination.
"We will continue to champion and embrace the huge positives of diversity, and stand with everyone who calls this island home."

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Charged Following Police Chase In West Belfast
A 70-year-old man has been charged with a number of driving offences following a police chase in west Belfast. It is believed officers tried to stop a car driving erratically in the Glen Road area on Wednesday, 07 February. The driver failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued.

Joe Reilly Murder: Man Arrested
A 51-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Joe Reilly. Mr Reilly, 43, was shot at his home in the Glenwood Court area of Poleglass, west Belfast, on 20 October. The suspect was arrested on Monday, 19 December, and has been taken to Musgrave Police station to be questioned.

Investigation Launched After Heroin And Cash Seized In Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after discovering heroin and a sum of cash in Belfast city centre. Four wraps of the Class A drugs were found in bushes on Wednesday, 30 November. Police also seized a sum of cash. The PSNI are continuing with their enquiries.

Police Appeal After 'Shot Fired' In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after reports of a shot being fired in north Belfast. No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident in the Farringdon Court area on Thursday. Police are keen to establish what happened and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
