This incident is the latest in a series of similar attacks on 5G masts in West Belfast and the surrounding areas. Such acts of vandalism have previously led to significant disruption to mobile phone services for residents and businesses, leaving some vulnerable individuals isolated due to a lack of phone signal. Sinn Féin West Belfast MP Paul Maskey and Belfast's Deputy Lord Mayor Paul Doherty have both condemned these attacks in the past, highlighting the severe impact on local communities and essential services.

The PSNI is appealing for information from anyone who was in the Springbank Industrial Estate area on Saturday afternoon and may have witnessed the incident or noticed anything suspicious.

Detective Sergeant McVeagh urged the public to "contact us on 101, quoting reference number 801 07/06/25."

Alternatively, reports can be submitted online via the PSNI website or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
