Police Appeal After Arson Attack On 5G Mast

Police are treating a fire at a 5G mast in the Annadale Embankment area of south Belfast as arson.

Officers, along with the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, attended the scene shortly after 10.15pm on Wednesday, 13 August, following a report that the mast was alight.

Inspector Roisin Brown said the incident was "just one of a number of 5G masts that have been set on fire recently," and she emphasised the dangers of lighting fire to electrical equipment. "This is extremely reckless, and those responsible are putting themselves and members of the public at serious risk," she said.

Police have asked that anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference 1956 of 13/08/25. Alternatively, a report can be submitted online or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
