Third Arrest In Ballymena Sexual Assault Investigation

Police investigating a serious sexual assault on a teenage girl in the Clonavon Terrace area of Ballymena on Saturday 07 June, have made a third arrest.

Detective Inspector Olphert from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Public Protection Branch confirmed that a 28-year-old man was arrested on Monday evening, 09 June. Following questioning, he has been unconditionally released from police custody.

The investigation has already seen two teenage boys charged with attempted rape in connection with the incident. Both appeared before Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Monday morning, 09 June.

Detective Inspector Olphert reiterated the appeal for public assistance: "Our enquiries are continuing, and we would reiterate our appeal for information. If you were in the Clonavon Terrace or Waveney Road area on Saturday evening, and witnessed what happened or noticed anything suspicious, please make contact with police on 101, quoting reference number 1522 07/06/25."

Arrest Over Hijacking & Common Assault
Police investigating a series of incidents in County Antrim and Down on Saturday 01 June have arrested a 31-year-old man. It follows a number of disturbances in the Newcastle, Lisburn, Carryduff and west Belfast areas. The man was detained on suspicion of hijacking and common assault. He remains in police custody this morning, Wednesday 05 June.

Police Ombudsman Issues Appeal Regarding West Belfast Arrest
An appeal for witnesses regarding the arrest of a man in west Belfast has been issued by the Police Ombudsman. The man was arrested by police in the Beechview Park of the Falls Road at approximately 1am on Sunday, October 6.
