Two People Charged With Lisburn Murder

Detectives from the PSNI's Major Investigation Team have charged two people with the murder of Barry Furfey in Lisburn.

A 37-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman are expected to appear before Craigavon Magistrates Court today, Wednesday, 17 September.

The body of 42-year-old Mr Furfey was discovered with serious injuries at a property in the Wardsborough Road area on the morning of Monday, 15 September. He later died from his injuries in hospital.

Detective Inspector Jill Angus offered her condolences to the family, stating that they were trying to come to terms with their "devastating loss".

Police have reiterated their appeal for information from the public, asking anyone who can help with their enquiries to call 101, quoting reference 29 of 15/09/25. Information can also be provided anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

13.2% Of NI Young People Not In Education, Employment Or Training
An estimated 26,000 young people aged 16-24 in Northern Ireland were not in education, employment or training (NEET) between July and September 2020, according to the latest statistics. The figures is the equivalent to 13.2% of all those aged 16-24 years, and shows that the NI number is higher that the UK average of 12.4%.

Two people escape injuries after arson attack
Two people have escaped injury following an arson attack on their County Down home. The Fire Service has revealed that a number of fires broke out at their home in the Grange Manor area of Kilkeel at around 3.30 this morning.

Two People Arrested On Suspicion Of People Smuggling
The PSNI have arrested two people in Belfast on suspicion of offences linked to people smuggling. At around 8am on Wednesday morning, immigration officers and some 30 police officers conducted raids on two properties in Annadale Drive and Ravenhill Avenue.
