Consumer Council Offers Free Financial Health Check Sessions
The Consumer Council has launched a new campaign, 'Make your finances fitter', aimed at encouraging the public to take control of their finances and maximise their budget.
As part of the campaign, the Council is hosting free online information sessions in the coming weeks. These sessions are open to anyone who wants to review their personal finances or for employees and volunteers who support others. The sessions will share practical ways to help reduce household bills and provide details of financial schemes that may be beneficial. Attendees will be able to get individual advice after the session if needed.
There are two opportunities to join:
– Wednesday, 22 October at 11am
– Thursday, 6 November at 7pm
To join a session, individuals must email financialservices@consumercouncil.org.uk, stating which session they wish to attend and noting any additional requirements. The relevant Teams link and joining details will then be sent via email.

Consumer Confidence Rising, Says Bank
A new NI-based survey has revealed a significant reduction in the number of people who are pessimistic about their anticipated financial position over the coming year. Local consumer confidence rose to its highest level in 10 months in June suggesting that economic stability is helping to shed some of the recessionary gloom.

The Minister's comments came during a visit to a digital training session held at Drumellan Community Centre in Craigavon, as part of Get Online Week.

Primark Fire: Affected Businesses Not Liable For Rates From Date Of Fire
Businesses affected by the fire at Belfast's Primark store will not be liable for rates from the date of the fire, Land & Property Services (LPS) has announced. Immediately following the fire at the historic Bank Building's last week, Land & Property Services (LPS) established a team dedicated to handle these cases.

Public Urged To Have Their Say Over New £25m Leisure Centre
The public are being urged to have their say over designs of a new £25million leisure centre in west Belfast. Belfast City Council (BCC) is to host information sessions to discuss the designs on the site of the Andersonstown Leisure Centre. The water-based family fun facility will also feature a fitness suite, exercise studio and café.
