Recruitment Drive For 200 Civil Service Jobs In North West
Finance Minister John O'Dowd has announced a new pilot recruitment competition aimed at filling approximately 200 Administrative Officer vacancies across several government departments in the North West.
The competition is a significant departure from traditional annual campaigns, offering a more agile and dynamic approach to recruitment. The roles offer a competitive starting salary of £26,449 per annum, along with an attractive annual leave and pension package.
Minister O'Dowd emphasised the importance of the roles: "Administrative Officers are essential to the daily functioning of the Civil Service... their contributions have a meaningful impact on the lives of people and communities here." The competition invites interested applicants to register their interest and complete a self-assessment of their skills and experience online.
The registration process will be followed by a large-scale recruitment event:
• When: Thursday, 27 November
• Where: Ebrington Hotel
Approximately 600 applicants will be invited to attend the event, where they will undergo an interview and have the opportunity to speak directly with departmental representatives about the specific roles available.
The Minister highlighted the efficiency of the new system: "At the recruitment event applicants will be able to explore vacancies, speak directly with departmental representatives, and complete interviews on the day with outcomes provided within days."
Successful applicants will be placed in vacancies as they arise. The closing date for registration is 12 noon on Friday, 7 November 2025.
