SDLP Urges Health Minister to Heed GP Vote on Alternatives to NHS
SDLP Opposition Health Spokesperson Colin McGrath MLA has called on Health Minister Mike Nesbitt to heed the vote by GPs at the Northern Ireland Local Medical Committees (NILMC) Conference to explore alternatives to the NHS.
McGrath said the vote indicates how "despondent" many GPs feel about the current state of the health service, which is finding it harder to deliver public services.
He urged the Minister to urgently return to the table with GP representatives to work out a new funding model and plan to deliver public access.
Sinn Féin Highlights £280 Million Economic Boost from The Open Sinn Féin MLA Emma Sheerin highlighted the potential of Northern Ireland to host major sporting events, citing new research that shows the 153rd Open generated over £280 million for the north’s economy.
The Mid Ulster MLA stated that this "huge boost" proves the power of sport to create better opportunities and allows the island to showcase its food, landmarks, and the warmth of its people. She called for continued investment in sport to seize this potential.
Detectives Appeal for Information Following Dunmurry Burglary
Detectives are appealing for information following a burglary in the White Rise area of Dunmurry on Sunday evening, November 16.
A property was entered between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm, and a sum of cash was taken. Police are asking anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area or has CCTV footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference 1281 of 16/11/25. Reports can also be submitted online or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The Public Health Agency (PHA) is encouraging community and voluntary organisations across Northern Ireland to apply for its Elevate Mentoring and Grants programme, designed to help tackle health inequalities at a local level. The programme, coordinated by the Community Development and Health Network (CDHN), is now open for applications.
