Man Extradited From Spain To Face Sexual Offence Charges

A 45-year-old man was successfully extradited from Spain to Northern Ireland yesterday, Thursday, 27 November 2025.

The man is wanted to stand trial in Northern Ireland on five offences of sexual activity with a child.

The alleged offences occurred in the Ballymena area between August and October 2020. The male failed to answer bail and has been sought for arrest since 2021.

The suspect was located and initially arrested in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, on 25 April 2025. His extradition proceedings were completed yesterday with his successful return to Northern Ireland. He is expected to appear before Coleraine Magistrates Court today, Friday, 28 November 2025.

Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit confirmed the collaborative effort that led to the extradition. "This extradition demonstrates our commitment to tracking down fugitives wanted here in Northern Ireland," he said.

He added that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) worked closely with the UK’s Joint International Crime Centre and Spain’s Policía Nacional to locate, arrest, and extradite the suspect.

Sergeant Davey sent a clear message to those attempting to evade justice: "Our message is clear to anyone who has left Northern Ireland to the consequences of their actions. We will relentlessly pursue those that are trying to delay or deny justice to victims of crime." He confirmed the PSNI will continue to work with national and international partners to ensure offenders are brought before the courts.
