Man Wanted In Lithuania For Child Human Trafficking Extradited
A man wanted in Lithuania to stand trial for multiple human trafficking offences involving children has been successfully extradited from Northern Ireland by the PSNI's International Policing Unit.
The 25-year-old male is accused of committing the offences in Taurage County, Lithuania in July 2020. He was initially arrested in Templepatrick on 2nd June, 2024, and the formal extradition process was completed today, securing his transfer back to Lithuania. Detective Inspector Lennon, of the PSNI's International Policing Unit, commented on the operation: "We continue to work with closely with the National Crime Agency and our European Partners to locate, arrest and extradite those wanted in other countries. The Police Service of Northern Ireland is committed to locating fugitives and today's extradition delivers on our assurance of the relentless pursuit of perpetrators and supporting victims."
The Detective Inspector sent a clear warning regarding the pursuit of justice: "Our message is clear that Northern Ireland is not a safe haven for anyone trying to avoid arrest or the consequences of their actions. We will continue to pursue anyone trying to delay or deny justice to victims of crime."

The PSNI have arrested a 23-year-old man in Magherafelt wanted in Lithuania to face charges of human trafficking. The man was arrested by officers from the Police Service's local policing team in Magherafelt, with assistance from the International Policing Unit. He is expected appear before extradition court in Belfast later today.

Two Men Extradited From Northern Ireland
Two men were extradited from Northern Ireland today, Tuesday 21st January. A 31-year-old man was extradited to the Republic of Ireland, where he is wanted to stand trial for dangerous driving causing death. This offence relates to a road traffic collision in County Donegal in April 2017 that resulted in the deaths of two people.

47-Year-Old Extradited To Lithuania On Human Trafficking Charges
A 47-year-old man has been extradited to Lithuania from NI to stand trial for offences of human trafficking, drugs distribution and money laundering. The man was arrested in the west Belfast area in August 2020 by officers from the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch. He was arrested on foot of an extradition warrant issued by Lithuanian authorities.

Belfast Celebrates Cultural Lithuania
There's to be a Euopean celebration in Belfast next week. The city will join Lithuanian officials to mark a special European allocade. Lord Mayor, Councillor Tom Hartley will be at a special concert and reception organised by the Lithuanian Embassy to mark the country's capital Vilnius becoming European Capital of Culture 2009.

Plans for a trade mission to Lithuania are now in the pipeline – thanks to a business event hosted by Belfast City Council. Local firms who attend the ‘Do Business with Lithuania’ breakfast at the Belfast City Hall expressed an interest in visiting contacts established through the venture.
