PSNI Appeal For Help Identifying Man Found Dead In Magherafelt
Police in Magherafelt are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the body of a man discovered in The Diamond area of the town on the morning of Sunday 14th December.
The deceased gentleman is believed by officers to have gone missing within the last 24 hours. The police are asking residents to check on family members, neighbours, or friends who they have not seen or heard from recently to confirm their safety and well-being. Inspector Knipe provided a detailed description of the man to aid in identification: "The gentleman is in his mid-20s and of slim build, with short dark hair and a short dark beard. He also has three piercings in his left ear. He was wearing a navy T-shirt, along with a blue sports top, dark jogging bottoms and black-and-white Adidas shoes."
The individual was found without any personal items that could assist in immediate identification. At this time, police have stated that they are not treating the death as suspicious.
Anyone who believes they can help police identify this gentleman, or who possesses any information relevant to the ongoing enquiries, is urged to contact the PSNI immediately on the non-emergency number 101. The public should quote reference number 330 of 14/12/25 when calling.

A man is beening treated for serious head injuries in hospital after being found unconscious in Co Antrim on Thursday. Discovered in Newtownabbey in the early hours of this morning, it is not known how the man, who is believed to be in his 30s, suffered his injuries.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.
