Shared Island Funding for NI Firms
Three companies in Northern Ireland—O&S Doors, Capper Trading, and Cemcor—are set to receive funding through the Shared Island Sustainability Capital Grant Scheme.
The scheme makes a total of €10 million available for investment. Sinn Féin MLA Pádraig Delargy, the party's Economy spokesperson, welcomed the announcement, noting that the funding supports key priorities in Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald's economic vision, particularly decarbonisation and increasing productivity.
Mr Delargy stated that the scheme fosters innovation and collaboration across the island, which he believes will help unlock significant economic potential, praising the cooperation of Invest NI, InterTradeIreland, and Enterprise Ireland in its delivery.
He concluded that the move is further evidence of the Minister's commitment to economic growth and North-South cooperation.
Man Charged with Human Trafficking Offences Police have confirmed that a 47-year-old man has been formally charged in connection with a number of human trafficking offences. The man was arrested on Saturday, 12th December, and is scheduled to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court today, Monday, 15th December.
As is standard procedure, all charges levied against the individual will be subject to a review by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).
Viable Device Found in Ballyclare Security Alert
A security alert on Ballylagan Road in the Ballyclare area has concluded after police and Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) attended the scene. Police were called shortly after 9am on Sunday, 14th December, following a report of a suspicious object located outside a residential property.
Detective Inspector Hanbidge confirmed that the device was examined and deemed to be viable, before being made safe and removed for further forensic examination. Temporary cordons have been lifted, and the occupants of a small number of evacuated properties were permitted to return home. Police thanked the public for their understanding during the operation.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing, and police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 455 14/12/25, or to use the PSNI's non-emergency reporting form online, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
