Investigation Launches After Carryduff Burglary

Detectives are appealing for information following a burglary at a property in Carryduff on Thursday evening, 8 January.

The incident happened at around 7.15pm at a house in the Black Quarter Meadow area, where three men are reported to have smashed the rear patio doors to gain entry. The suspects, described as wearing all black and having local accents, searched the property before leaving empty-handed.

Two children were in the house at the time. While they were not physically injured, police say they have been left badly shaken by the incident.

Detective Sergeant Crossett said: "Entry was gained at around 7.15pm when three men smashed patio doors at the rear of the property in Black Quarter Meadow.

"The men, described as dressed all in black with local accents, searched the house but left empty handed.

"Two children were present at the time, and although they were not physically harmed or threatened, they have been left extremely frightened by this intrusion into their home.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact us on 101, quoting reference 1282 08/01/26.

"We would also ask local residents to check their CCTV or doorbell footage."

Couple held hostage in south Belfast robbery
A couple have been tied up and robbed by an armed gang at their south Belfast home. Three masked men entered the house at Windsor Avenue North at around 10.30am on Monday night armed with handguns. Once inside they demanded money from the couple who were held inside the house throughout the night whilst the gang ransacked the home.

Two pensioners have been left badly shaken after a group of men burgled their home in Co Armagh. The incident happened at a house in the Portadown Road area of Tandragee just after 9.30pm on Thursday, 09 March. They threatened the pair, tied them up and locked them in the bathroom. The suspects made off with a sum of cash.

Men Released In David Black Investigation
The two men arrested by police investigating the murder of prison officer David Black have been released unconditionally. The men, aged 34 and 42, were arrested in Coalisland, County Tyrone on Wednesday morning. Mr Black was shot as he drove to work on the M1 in County Armagh on 1 November.
