RenewableUK Appoints Tara Singh As CEO

RenewableUK has appointed Tara Singh as its next Chief Executive, with her tenure beginning on 23 February.

Singh brings more than two decades of experience across government, global energy companies and public affairs. She currently leads a major public affairs practice at Burson, advising organisations in renewable energy and infrastructure. Her previous roles include senior positions in Shell's Renewable and Energy Solutions division and serving in 10 Downing Street as Energy and Environment Adviser to the Prime Minister.

Commenting on the appointment, Tara Singh said: "I'm proud to champion the UK’s clean energy sector, which provides half the UK's electricity, supports hundreds of thousands of jobs, and has saved consumers over £100 billion since 2010 by cutting our exposure to volatile imported fuels.

"I'm looking forward to working with RenewableUK's 500 member companies which are leading the energy transition by delivering a reliable and secure clean power system and creating economic opportunities for communities all around the country.

"My priority will be to ensure that Government and industry work even closer together to build on our success, driving growth which strengthens our energy security, gets bills as low as possible, and delivers investment to every part of the UK."

Singh will work closely with RenewableUK's Deputy CEO Jane Cooper, who has led the association since February last year. Jane Cooper said: "It's been an immense privilege to lead RenewableUK's passionate and talented team over the last ten months, and I am thrilled to be working with Tara on the next stage of our sector's growth. She brings a wealth of experience from her work in Government and at Burson. As the political and media landscape has continued to shift over the past year, our sector has faced growing scrutiny and complexity. Tara brings a strong strategic voice and the expertise needed to help navigate this increasingly contested environment.

"I would like to thank the Board and our former CEO Dan McGrail for their support and guidance during this period. RenewableUK is starting the new year in a strong position with a record amount of new clean energy capacity eligible to compete in the current auction for new contracts to generate clean power. We will continue to work tirelessly with our member companies to ensure that they thrive, and that we deliver the energy transition in a way that maximises economic and social benefits, including new job opportunities, across the UK."
