North Belfast Security Alert Ends
Eia Street in north Belfast has reopened after a security alert sparked by reports of suspicious objects on Monday afternoon, police have confirmed.
The road, which was shut on Monday 19 January at its junction with Brookhill Avenue, has now fully reopened and residents have been allowed back into their homes.
Inspector McAlea said: "Shortly after one pm, police received a report that a suspicious object had been discovered in the area. "A number of homes were advised to be evacuated as enquiries got underway, and ammunition technical officers attended the scene.
"Two BB style guns were subsequently recovered from the scene, and taken away for further examination.
"Residents have now been returned to their homes.
"Enquires are this morning ongoing, and officers would appeal to anyone who might have any information which would assist us, to get in touch.
"The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 638 of 19/01/26.
"You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org/."

A security alert in Glengormley has now ended. A suspicious object was discovered, however police said it has been declared a 'hoax'. Inspector Cullen said: "Police received a report on Thursday, 5th September shortly after 11.15pm that a suspicious device had been left in the area.

Man Stabbed In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a 35-year-old man was stabbed in an attack in north Belfast on Thursday. The man was assaulted by two men in the early hours, just before 04:20, at Brookhill Avenue. Police said the man was stabbed in his left arm and left leg and also had his wallet taken in the incident.

Police in north Belfast are investigating a number of reports of criminal damage to houses and cars in Catherine Court in the Whitewell area of the city yesterday evening. It has been reported that a gang of masked men armed with hatchets and golf clubs, entered the area just before 11.
