Renewed Appeal For Information On Murder Of Wayne Reid
Detectives from the PSNI's Major Investigation Team have issued a fresh appeal for information regarding the murder of Wayne Reid. The renewed call for public assistance coincides with police searches conducted on Wednesday 21 January, in the Society Street and Society Court areas of Coleraine.
Wayne Reid, aged 43, was pronounced dead at a property in Society Court on Monday 12 January. Investigators believe the father-of-one was the victim of a violent assault at a different address in nearby Society Street during the early hours of Saturday 10 January, later succumbing to injuries sustained during the attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Hazel Miller emphasised that the investigation remains active and that a visible police presence will continue in the area as enquiries progress.
"My thoughts remain with Wayne's family and loved ones at this unimaginably difficult time. Members of the local community have also been left shaken by the tragic event," said DCI Miller.
Appeal for Witnesses and Digital Evidence Police are specifically looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who had contact with Mr Reid in the two days between the attack and his death. Detectives are also urging the public to come forward with any available digital evidence, including: CCTV footage, mobile phone recordings and dash cam footage.
Information and media can be submitted directly through the Major Incident Public Portal at mipp.police.uk.
DCI Miller added: "I'm keen to reiterate my appeal for anyone with information to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference 552 of 12/01/26. I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack, or who may have spoken to Wayne in the period following the attack."
Alternatively, those wishing to provide information with total anonymity can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
