Detectives Appeal for Information After Man Shot in Bangor
Detectives are investigating a shooting in Bangor that occurred on the evening of Tuesday 12 May and are calling on the public to provide any relevant information.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland received a report at approximately 10.40pm stating that a man had been shot in the vicinity of Bloomfield Road. Officers attended the scene alongside the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, and the victim was transported to hospital for treatment to a gunshot wound in his leg.
Detective Sergeant Gray commented on the severity of the incident, noting that while the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, they are significant and will likely result in long-term physical and emotional trauma for the victim. "This attack has caused fear and disruption in the very community those responsible for this criminal act claim to protect and there is no justification for this violence," Detective Sergeant Gray stated.
The police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the event, or who has information or footage that could aid the investigation, to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Gray added: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone with any information or footage that could assist with our enquiries, to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1763 12/05/26."
