Final Call For Public Input On £100m 'Belfast Stories' Project

Belfast City Council has issued a reminder that the statutory pre-application community consultation for the ambitious Belfast Stories development is entering its final fortnight. Members of the public have until Thursday 5 February 2026 to review the latest proposals and submit their feedback before the formal planning application is lodged later this year.

Located at the site of the former Bank of Ireland building, the £100 million flagship project is a central element of the Belfast Region City Deal. The site is envisioned as a world-class visitor attraction, public space, and creative hub, with an anticipated opening date in 2030. Once complete, the development is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people to the city centre annually, driving economic regeneration and job creation.

Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Tracy Kelly, has urged everyone with an interest in the city's future to participate in the process.

Councillor Kelly stated: "This is a once-in-a-generation project for our city, and we want as many people as possible to help shape what it becomes. Whether you live, work or visit Belfast, I'd encourage you to go online, take a look at the latest proposals, and have your say before the consultation closes. This is your chance to influence how we tell Belfast's stories and create a space that belongs to everyone."

Detailed concept designs and the feedback portal are available to view via the council's engagement website at yoursay.belfastcity.gov.uk/belfast-stories.
