Police to Increase Dunmurry Patrols Following Spate Of Burglaries

Police have announced plans to step up patrols in the Dunmurry area following a series of burglaries targeting local businesses over the past fortnight.

The West Belfast Local Policing Team is currently investigating several reports of forced entry, with detectives exploring a potential link between the incidents. The spate began on Monday, 26 January, when a dog grooming business in the Killeaton Crescent area was broken into and a sum of cash was stolen.

Further reports followed on Wednesday, 4 February, when four separate units at a business complex on Kingsway were entered at approximately 6am. Small amounts of money were reported missing from each of the premises.

The most recent incidents occurred between the evening of Friday, 6 February and the morning of Saturday, 7 February. An electronics shop on Lambeg Road was targeted, alongside a hair salon on Kingsway. While the salon sustained damage to its door and interior, it is believed that nothing was stolen during that specific break-in.

West Belfast Local Policing Team Inspector McAleavy stated: "We are investigating a potential link between these incidents and in response to these reports we plan on showing an increased presence in the area.

"I would appeal to anyone who has witnessed anything suspicious in these areas recently or who may have information that could help with our enquiries, to get in touch with police on 101, quoting reference number 391 07/02/26."

Information can also be provided via the PSNI's non-emergency reporting form at www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
