£290,000 Resurfacing Project Begins on B43 Pomeroy Road
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed the start of a £290,000 resurfacing scheme on the B43 Pomeroy Road in Donaghmore.
The works, which commence today, Monday 2 March 2026, focus on a 1.5-kilometre stretch between Coolmaghery Road and Tullyleek Road.
The project involves full-width resurfacing of the road surface alongside targeted substructure patching designed to reinforce the carriageway at several points. This investment aims to improve the quality of the route for both local residents and commuters. Minister Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment in the Donaghmore to Pomeroy route which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
To allow the works to be carried out safely, the road will be closed to all through traffic daily from 8:00am to 6:00pm for five weeks. A signed diversion route has been established in both directions via the B43 Pomeroy Road, B160 Tanderagee Road, B160 Annaghquin Road, A29 Cookstown Road, C636 Tullycullion Road, and B43 Main Street.
While the Department for Infrastructure has planned the works to limit disruption and will maintain access for local residents, road users are warned to expect delays. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and to adhere to all temporary traffic restrictions in the area.
If weather conditions remain favourable, the project is expected to be substantially complete by Saturday 4 April 2026.
