Man Charged Following Glenarm Security Alert

A 43-year-old is set to appear in court today facing multiple charges including intent to cause an explosion.

Detectives investigating a security alert that occurred in Glenarm on Monday 6 April have brought charges against a 43-year-old man. The individual has been charged with performing an act with the intent to cause an explosion likely to endanger life or cause serious damage to property, as well as obstructing police and the unlicensed possession of fireworks.

The man is scheduled to appear before Coleraine Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 8 April. In line with standard legal procedure, all charges will be subject to review by the Public Prosecution Service.

In a related development, a 47-year-old man who was arrested as part of the same investigation has been released. A report regarding the offence of obstructing police will be submitted to the Public Prosecution Service in his case.
