Two Wanted Men Extradited in Separate PSNI Operations
A 54-year-old man has been extradited from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland to face 17 counts of child cruelty and one count of blackmail.
The suspect had been arrested in the Republic of Ireland on Sunday, 7 August 2022, on foot of an extradition warrant obtained by the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The extradition proceedings concluded with his successful return to Northern Ireland. He is scheduled to appear before Londonderry Magistrates' Court this morning. In an unrelated case, a 33-year-old man was extradited from Northern Ireland to Romania. He is wanted in his home country to serve a prison sentence of one year and 11 months following convictions for theft offences committed there.
The individual was originally stopped by police officers in Belfast city centre in August 2025, at which point it was discovered that he was a wanted person in Romania. He was arrested at the scene, and his successful return to Romania marks the completion of his extradition proceedings.
Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit said: "We continue to work with closely with our national and international law enforcement partners to locate and return persons sought for extradition. The Police Service of Northern Ireland is committed to tracking down wanted persons and bringing them before the courts both here in Northern Ireland and abroad."
