Man Charged Following Serious Sexual Assault In Belfast

A man in his 40s is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court facing multiple charges including rape and false imprisonment.

A man has been charged to court following a report of a serious sexual assault that took place in Belfast on Sunday, 14th June 2026.

The individual, aged in his 40s, faces a number of charges including rape, false imprisonment, non-fatal strangulation, and sexual assault.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court today, Monday 15th June.

As is standard procedure, all of the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Teenager Charged Over Belfast City Centre Rape
Police investigating a report of a sexual assault in Belfast City Centre almost two weeks ago have charged a 19-year-old man. The incident is believed to have took place on Little May Street on Sunday 25 November. The accused has been charged with attempted rape and sexual assault.

Man Arrested Over George Gilmore Murder
Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the murder of loyalist George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. A 32-year-old man arrested on Sunday, 19 March, has been released.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A 35-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. The victim, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition after being assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. The suspect is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Monday, 17 October.
