James Corrigan Appointed Acting Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice In NI
Justice Minister Naomi Long has appointed James Corrigan as Acting Chief Inspector of the Criminal Justice Inspection for Northern Ireland, effective immediately.
Corrigan assumes the position following the departure of Jacqui Durkin, who resigned from the role to take up the post of Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland.
Previously serving as Deputy Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice, Corrigan will hold the acting position for a period of up to 12 months while the process to appoint a permanent Chief Inspector is carried out.
The Department of Justice said a public appointments process for the permanent role is expected to begin shortly.
Minister Long said Corrigan's experience and knowledge would provide stability during the transition period.
"I am pleased that James has agreed to undertake the role of Chief Inspector until the public appointments process is concluded. He will bring continuity and a wealth of knowledge to the post."
According to the Department of Justice, Corrigan currently holds no other public appointments.

Police Granted Extra Time To Question Murder Suspect
Detectives investigating the murder of 53-year-old Alice Morrow have been granted an additional 36 hours to question a suspect. Mrs Morrow's body was found at a property in Whincroft Way, east Belfast on Sunday evening, 10 March. A 42-year-old male arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Charlotte Murray. She disappeared five years ago and was reported missing in May 2013. Police believe she was murdered. Her body has never been found.

New Chief Inspector Of Criminal Justice Appointed
Northern Ireland has been appointed a new Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice. Justice Minister David Ford has announced Brendan McGuigan will be filling the position. Mr McGuigan was previously Deputy Chief Inspector and Chief Executive of the Criminal Justice Inspection NI.
