Police Appeal After Attempted ATM Theft In South Belfast
Police in Belfast are appealing for information after an attempted theft from an ATM in south Belfast in the early hours of Monday, 13 July.
The incident was reported on the Upper Lisburn Road in Finaghy, where damage was caused to the machine but no cash was taken. Two people have been arrested and remain in custody.
Detective Inspector McCamley said: "We received a report shortly after 4am this morning, Monday 13th July, that an attempt had been made to gain access to an ATM machine in the Upper Lisburn Road area of Finaghy. Damage was noted to the ATM but nothing was taken.
"A man, aged in his 50s, and a woman aged in her 40s have been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted burglary, going equipped for burglary and drugs offences. They both remain in custody at this time.
"An investigation is underway and anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Upper Lisburn Road area in the early hours of Monday morning, or who may have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage, is asked to contact police using our witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals quoting 280 of 13/07/26 or call us on 101."

PSNI detectives investigating an attempted ATM theft at a service station on Cushendall Road in Ballymena overnight, have issued an appeal for information and witnesses. It is understood that three men were involved in trying to force the door of the room housing the machine shortly after 2am. They made off without gaining entry.

Officers cordoned off an area at a shop on the Gilnahirk Road as enquiries continue. The men, aged 30, 33, 37 and 41 are currently in custody assisting police with the investigation.

Police have launched an investigation after several ATM machines were targeted by thieves in Co Antrim. A shop in Aghalee was burgled in the early hours of Friday morning, 20 April, and a substantial amount of money was stolen. The burglars attempted to take an ATM machine, however they were unsuccessful.
