Woman, 24, Dies After Hit-And-Run In North Belfast

The PSNI have confirmed that a 24-year-old female pedestrian died following a hit-and-run road traffic collision in north Belfast on Thursday morning, 16 July.

She has been formally identified as Raven Adams, who was originally from the Tipperary area. A 22-year-old man was also seriously injured in the incident on York Street.

A man, aged 22, believed to be the driver, fled the scene but was later arrested by officers in the Cavehill area. He remains in custody as enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Stewart from the Police Service's Collision Investigation Unit said: "We received a report at approximately 2.40am of a single-vehicle collision involving two pedestrians.

"It was reported the pedestrians were struck by a vehicle - the driver of which, a 22-year-old man, subsequently fled the scene, and was later arrested by officers in the nearby Cavehill area.

"He remains in police custody at this time as enquiries continue into the circumstances of what happened.

"Officers attended the scene, alongside colleagues from other emergency services where medical treatment was provided to both pedestrians.

"Sadly, the female was pronounced deceased at the scene – while the man has been taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

"The road has now fully reopened following a number of earlier closures in the area."

Witness Appeal After Stabbing Incident In Downpatrick
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following an assault in the Ardilea Park area of Downpatrick in the early hours of Sunday morning, 10 December. A 22-year-old man was found with serious stab wounds at a house in the Killough Road area just after 4am. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Man Arrested Over Paramilitary-Style Shooting In L'Derry
A man has been arrested in connection with a paramilitary-style shooting in Co L'Derry. A 33-year-old man was shot in the legs and abdomen in the Lisfannon Park area on Tuesday, 08 August. Police described the assault as "brutal and horrific". The 43-year-old suspect was detained in L'Derry on Tuesday, 15 August.
